Doctor J Marisa graduated his MBChB @University of Zimbabwe 2005. He went on to work in public health at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals practicing Medicine and Surgery as a Junior inten from 2005 - 2006. He worked at the same Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals as a senior intern doing rotations in Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynaecological and Annaesthetics.

Doctor J Marisa, also worked as a Government Medical officer stationed at Marondera Provincial Hospital as well as District Medical officer during that period he was posted to China in March 2008 to study Traditional Chinese Medicine for 3 Months. He then Joined Humana People to People (NGO) as a Medical Doctor Covering 44 African countries that Humana Operates in and rose through the ranks to become the chief Medical officer.

From 2012 to date Doctor J Marisa entered into Private practice he is the Chief Medical Director at Westview Medical Clinics operating Westview Medical center (Kuwadzana), Westview Maternity Clinic Kuwadzana Westview 24hrs Clinic Ruwa and Westview 24hrs Clinic Norton. Currently Doctor J Marisa is the President of medical and Dental Private Practitioners of Zimbabwe ( MDPPZA)
